Phuket (Thai; formerly known as Tha-Laang or Talang) is one of the southern provinces(changwat) of Thailand. Neighbouring provinces are (from north clockwise) Phang Nga and Krabi, but as Phuket is an island there are no land boundaries. The island is served by Phuket International Airport, located in the north of the island. The ph of "Phuket" is an aspirated "p", so the name is pronounced (roughly) "Poock-get". The name Phuket is apparently derived from the word bukit in Malay which means mountain or hill, as this is what the island appears like from a distance.

Before that its old name was Ta-lang, derived from the old Malay "Telong" which means "Cape". The northern district of the province, which was the location of the old capital, still uses this name.

Phuket is on south of Thailand .Andaman pearl its name.It is a big island.It's probably not an overstatement to say that phuket never sleeps.As soon as the sun sets,the sound of music that lifts up our spirits and the neon lights from entertainment venuses suddenly enliven the city.Anyone who fancies experiencing Phuket's nightlife should keep themselves physique fit for the adventure that awaits them.

Patong beach is the first name that crops up when thinking of nightlife and all restaurants,pubs and bars tucked away in all nooks and corners along the road opposite the beach that suddenly wake up together to illuminate the night  as soon as the sun sets.

Soi Bang La is a location reserved for night crawler with mini -shows at various venues located all along the 500-metre street.The over all atmosphere is not much different from Pattaya's night entertainment venues or B angkok 's famed Khao Sarn Road.

By car :

from Bangkok ,takes highway 35(Thonburi-paktor Rd)and highway4(petchkasem Rd)pass Petchburi,Prachuabkhirikhan,Chunphon,Ranongand Phangnga.Then turn right intohighway 402,across Thepkasattri Bridge into Phuket town.

 Phangnga province.Then turn left into highway 402,and cross Thepkrasattri Bridge into Phuket town.

By bus by air:There are both regular and air condition buses to Phuket everyday from  Southern Bus Station .The journey takes around 12 hours from Bangkok and if taking sleeping bus you are most likely to reach there right in the morning.

By train :there has  not yet been a railway to Phuket but you need to get off at Phunpin station(Suratthani) and continue with the bus to Phuket.

By air: there are a number of airlines to Phuket everyday .

The journey takes around 1.20hour
